Science Unleashed; Transforming Tomorrow Through Innocation

The 2025 National Science Month celebration, themed "Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation", underscores the critical role of scientific exploration and technological advancement in shaping our future. This theme highlights the importance of venturing into uncharted territories of knowledge to drive progress and address the complex challenges facing society. By focusing on the unknown, the celebration encourages researchers, innovators, and collaboration in the pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries.

In the coming decades, the relationship between science and society will become even more intertwined and interdependent. Science will increasingly influence various aspects of our lives, from healthcare and education to environmental sustainability and economic development. Advances in fields like artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and nanotechnology will offer unprecedented opportunities to improve human well-being, enhance productivity, and create new industries. However, these advancements will also raise important ethical, social, and policy considerations that must be addressed proactively to ensure equitable and responsible implementation.

Moreover, society's support for and engagement with science will be crucial for fostering a culture of innovation and driving sustainable progress. Investing in science education, promoting public understanding of science, and encouraging diverse participation in scientific endeavors will be essential for building a scientifically literate and engaged citizenry. By fostering a strong and collaborative relationship between science and society, we can harness the power of science and innovation to create a brighter and more prosperous future for all.

Storms of Change: Filipino Resilience Amidst Climate Change

The Philippines, an archipelago of over 7,000 islands, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and the resilience of its people. However, this island nation faces a significant threat: climate change. The Philippines is one of the most vulnerable countries to the impacts of climate change, experiencing more frequent and intense typhoons, rising sea levels, and extreme weather events. These environmental changes profoundly affect the lives and living conditions of Filipinos, testing their resilience in unprecedented ways.

One of the predominant reasons for the sudden and progressive changes in the Philippine environment is the country's geographical location. Situated in the Pacific Ring of Fire and the typhoon belt, the Philippines is naturally prone to earthquakes and typhoons. Climate change exacerbates these natural vulnerabilities, leading to more destructive weather patterns. Deforestation, driven by illegal logging and agricultural expansion, further compounds the problem. With fewer trees to absorb rainwater, the risk of flooding and landslides increases, endangering communities and livelihoods. Additionally, unsustainable mining practices contribute to environmental degradation, polluting water sources and destabilizing land, making it more susceptible to erosion and landslides.

The impact of these environmental changes on Filipinos is far-reaching. Coastal communities face displacement due to rising sea levels and storm surges, forcing them to abandon their homes and traditional ways of life. Farmers struggle with unpredictable rainfall patterns, leading to crop failures and food insecurity. Urban areas grapple with increased flooding, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting daily life. Despite these challenges, Filipinos have shown remarkable resilience. Communities have developed innovative adaptation strategies, such as building sturdier homes, implementing early warning systems, and promoting sustainable farming practices. The spirit of "bayanihan," or communal unity, is evident in the way Filipinos come together to help each other in times of crisis, providing food, shelter, and support to those affected by disasters.

In conclusion, climate change poses a significant threat to the Philippines and its people. The country's geographical vulnerabilities, coupled with deforestation and unsustainable practices, contribute to the increasing frequency and intensity of environmental disasters. However, the resilience of Filipinos shines through in their ability to adapt, innovate, and support one another in the face of adversity. Addressing climate change requires a multi-faceted approach, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, promoting sustainable development, and investing in disaster preparedness and resilience-building measures. By working together, the Philippines can protect its environment and ensure a sustainable future for its people.

ISNHS Intramurals 25-26

We volunteered to facilitate on the red cross to be the medics for the Basketball players.
We were not assigned on the sepak but we watched it.
We also watched the boxing match. because their battle was so intense.
On the second day of intramurals, we were assigned to look out for the gymnast.

The importance of intramurals is for the young athletes to practice more and for them to be more skilled. This helps them boost their strength and to show their talents. Intramurals is one of the traditions of most of the schools here in the Philippines. Intramurals also promote physical activity, teamwork, and socialization among the players/athletes. This also provides a fun and relaxed environment for people to engage in sports, fostering a sense of community and school spirit.
It encourage friendly competition and sportsmanship. Provide opportunities for students to try new activities and discover their hidden talents. I observed that most of the players are all exhausted, maybe because of their trainings. A lot of them are looking tired but they are trying their best to be strong and to win. They faced a lot of challenges, setbacks, and triumphs. It's their passion and determination that drive them forward. They learned to overcome obstacles, work with others, and strive for excellence. Their achievements serves as testament to the impact of sports on individuals. Through their hard work and commitment, they inspire others and push themselves to new heights. Victory or defeated, they keep on shining.
This fosters school pride and unity. Overall, intramurals play a vital role in creating a well-rounded and engaging experience for participants.

We were collecting the scattered trash.
We were collecting the dried leaves.
Now it is ready to collect
    Still cleaning
          This is the before
             Okay now it's done
Then put it in a garbage bag.
And all done.

Reflection

I learned a lot from the 1st quarter. I also discovered the different persons who had contributed to the internet access. But I find it really fun listening. However, I encountered a lot of problems on our first quarter discussion. Overcoming procrastination was also a significant hurdle. The timeline made it more challenging because most of our quiz was identification. I addressed these challenges by listening carefully, reading more and more about our discussion and by seeking help from my teacher and forming a study group with classmates. To manage my time better, I created a detailed schedule and prioritized tasks. I tackled procrastination by breaking tasks into smaller, manageable steps and setting realistic deadlines.

Dear President Bongbong Marcos Jr.

Hi before you judge me please hear me out. When Bbm was still on his campaign era I used to be one of his supporters, because of his fathers background. Disregard the martial law.

Since my own family was Bbm Jhr. pro I was also a fan of him. I got carried away of informations about him, like he was an ilocano. Also he is undergrad because he wants to experience all the course's works. However, when he won the election 2-3 years ago. None of his promises or commitments were granted. I know I do not know how politics work and how hard it is to be a president of the whole country. How come he had the gut to promise this to people who have trusted him. He was also a politician, doesn't he know that his time of being a president has limit. He should've promised something that he can do. Not something that is impossible to do. The government of the Philippines is getting more and more corrupt. Even education system is fcked up because of people who are experimenting on students. School should be free for people who do not have the privilege. Excellence should be measured in this case. Not the connections nor money. Purely intelligence, I also want to add up the requirements needed for work. Why have a high standard requirements when the salary couldn't even feed a one family. The requirements should be based on the salary. They do not know the struggles below them. They do not observe the struggles of people who are outside the real world dealing with real problems.

In conclusion, politics is one of the reason why the Philippines is still at low. There are a lot of solutions out there. But it seems like they do not want to help their own country to succeed and make others life easier. They want others to suffer while they want their life above. Living like a self made rich, while others are suffering because of their stupidity. Corruption and Politicians are the biggest enemy of Filipinos.

Nourish your body, Nurture your life

A lot of Filipinos are experiencing malnutrition because of poverty. Nutrition month is one of the best way to educate others for them to know the importance of being healthy. Celebrating the nutrition month is also a help and advocate people who's not familiar of healthy foods.

By dedicating the month of July to nutrition, the Philippines aims to encourage individuals to prioritize their health through proper nutrition and make informed choices about their food intake. We should always prioritize our health more than anything. For us to have a longer life. Nutrition Month celebration is one of the important celebrations that we Filipinos acknowledge.

Thus it's a chance to learn about proper nutrition, make positive changes to our diets, and celebrate the power of food to nourish our bodies and minds. It's a reminder that what we eat directly affects how we feel, think, and live.
